A HEART OF SERVICEThe reality of an authentic Christian faith can be seen clearly through acts of love directed toward those in need. Located at the center of Santa Cruz County, we are called upon as a church to practice an active Christianity, characterized by compassion, justice, and a sense of responsibility. Our partnership with community organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank creates opportunities for our church to work in cooperation with others who seek to promote the common good. A food voucher program administered by our Minister and Board of Deacons is a resource for those in need of emergency food. Several recovery groups meet at our campus for mutual support and education. Putting into practice Jesus' words about loving God and loving neighbor is the inspiration behind "Hand to Hand" service events sponsored by the church.Service also assumes a global priority through our support of cross-cultural ministries both in the United States and abroad. Periodically, a team from our church, consisting of youth and adult advisers, conducts a work project at the Pan-American Institute in Tijuana, Mexico. In our outreach we seek to partner with organizations working locally, nationally, and internationally. The list below comprises our current spectrum of financial outreach, one facet of how we strive to put God's love to work. We also seek to strengthen our surrounding community by joining in events hosted by local agencies or sharing our church campus with important local organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous.LOCAL: Above the Line Group Home Society; Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition; Food Vouchers; Golden Age Convalescent Home; Habitat for Humanity; Homeless Services Center; Hospice of Santa Cruz County; Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Association; LiftLine, Loaves and Fishes; Salvation Army; Second Harvest Food Bank; United Way; Women's Crisis Support. .NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL: National Association of Congregational Christian Churches; Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies; Pan American Institute; Mercy Corps; Red Cross; World Vision; Doctors Without Borders.
